Sam's Memorial Match 2018 Raises £2000

On Sunday the 6th May - hot bank holiday Sunday - over 200 people packed the Elton Vale ground in Bury for our annual memorial match #InMemoryofSam.

The event began with a wonderful balloon race to set the event off, before the football competition started, with the players running around in 24 degree heat, ending in a 4-4 draw culminating in a penally shoot out won by Sam's brother Tom's team!!!

Fed by a wonderful BBQ from the ever present Wordsworth Butchers in Bolton a special mention also has to be made to Zac Parris who officiated and oversaw the game.

Man of the Match split between two players Greg Daniels & Ady Sutherland both hatrick heroes for their respective teams.

Sun still shining into the early evening raffle tickets were sold and games played we were then indulged with some fantastic music from Matty Fletcher a fantastic solo artist who sang in the sweltering heat.

Moving inside we were treated to DJ masterclass from Chris Heywood and partied until the early hours.

Great night by all and around £2000 made through the event and matched funding.

Again thank you to everyone who came, a tremendous event again we're already looking to see how we can improve for next year.

Special mentions to the ladies and gentlemen that helped on the day selling raffle tickets, bbq, bouncy castle running and much more. Thank you to Elton Vale sports club also accommodating as ever and staff giving up their bank holiday!
